Veerse Meer (the lake of Veere)

Noord and Zuid-Beveland are separated by the lake of Veere: a perfect place for water sports enthusiasts, but also a stunning nature reserve. The perfect way to get to know the waters between Noord and Zuid is by boat. If you prefer to get a little more active on the water, there is plenty of opportunity for water skiing or wake boarding. 
The lake of Veere boasts several islets, five of which are designated birds resting, feeding and nesting areas. The other twelve islands are open to visitors. You will find playing fields and hiking forests here. You could also head out on your bike, in which case we recommend a stopover at the old fortified town of Veere.

Noord-Beveland

Noord-Beveland is a completely flat island, situated only one metre above sea level. You can experience the authentic island feeling here, and enjoy the island's stunning nature along the border of land and water. The island is the perfect destination for hikers, cyclists and water sports enthusiasts. What's more, the charming villages on the island will really give you that holiday feeling.

Zuid-Beveland

Zuid-Beveland boasts stunning polder landscapes, The Pocket of Zuid-Beveland (a 58km cycling route), picturesque villages and charming towns. The Pocket of Zuid-Beveland offers the perfect opportunity to cycle or walk through fruit orchards and past barns and meandering flower dikes. This area is perfect for enjoying the stunning Zeeland countryside, including breath-taking views of the water. Situated between the Oosterschelde and Westerschelde estuaries, it is the perfect location for nature lovers. This bike ride takes you past a whopping twenty cycling junctions!

Goes en Yerseke

Goes and Yerseke in Zuid-Beveland are particularly popular with tourists. Goes offers an old city centre with a quay, a market, churches and old streets that are definitely worth visiting. Goes is also great for shopping! Yerseke is a fishing village where you can enjoy delicious food. Oysters, mussels and fresh fish: Yerseke is famous for all of it. The village also boasts the only mussel auction in Europe, and there is even an annual Mussel Day!

Eating out in Noord- and Zuid-Beveland

Thanks to the location of Noord and Zuid-Beveland, visitors can find opportunities to eat out in unique locations. On Noord-Beveland, for example, you can have lunch or dinner in an old ferry house or restaurant 'De Brouwerij', a former brewery. As you enter the premises, you can still see the copper brew kettles, to remind you of the rich history. In addition to a varied assortment of beer, the menu also offers a wide selection of dishes, with special consideration given to children through a children's menu. Weather permitting, the little ones can run around in the spacious garden, where there is a small playground, in between courses.
Be sure to pay a visit to restaurant 'De Kleine Toren' during your stay in Zuid-Beveland. The chef uses local seasonal produce wherever possible, from lobster to game dishes with honest flavours and famous sauces. Order some fine wine to accompany your meal, to complete your culinary experience.
