Although Zeeland is famous for its tranquillity, it is also home to several vibrant cities worth visiting, such as Middelburg with its many monuments or Vlissingen with its lively esplanade. Zoutelande, part of the Zeeland Riviera, is well worth a visit for its perfect combination of nature, tranquillity and fun. Zoutelande is also an excellent starting point for an active holiday. Goes is your go-to place if you want to hit the shops, and Zeeland boasts many lovely weekly markets throughout.

Delicious food in Zeeland 

If you're on a city break in Zeeland, you will want to partake of the famous Zeeland mussels. Other seafood and the tastiest fish also often feature on Zeeland's restaurant menus. Culture

Zeeland is also the place to be if you feel a holiday is not complete without a cultural outing. You could visit the Zeeuws Museum in Middelburg, for example, where much of Zeeland's history is well preserved. The Maritime MuZEEum in Vlissingen is another excellent option, showcasing various objects from the important Michiel de Ruyter collection as well as the large marine archaeological collection from the VOC era of the State of the Netherlands. If you are more interested in other historical events such as World War II, we suggest a visit to the Bevrijdingsmuseum (Liberation Museum) in Nieuwdorp. This museum, the largest in the province of Zeeland, takes you on a journey through history, from the rise of fascism and Nazism to the outbreak of World War II.

Zeeland Art

The artists' villages of Domburg or Groede also offer plenty of art. The special art exhibition on Scheldeboulevard Terneuzen in July is well worth a visit. You can admire one of the largest bronze statues in the Netherlands there. There's always something cultural happening: from festivals to museums, galleries, art cinemas and more.

Enjoy Zeeland's nature 

Zeeland boasts a beautifully varied landscape with plenty of nature to boot! Take in the fresh air on one of Zeeland's many beaches, go on a hike through Oosterschelde National Park or grab a bike and follow one of the many beautiful cycling routes through Zeeland's polders. Also suitable for little ones. There are several themed routes, with treasure hunts and mystery solving, for example.
